Our area is bathed in medicinal plants and Camifolia is our showcase.

To show how important the medicinal plant sector activity is in the district, in 1976 a group of producers decided to create a garden of medicinal plants, using the garden of Chemillé’s town hall.

This garden has been remodeled many times. In 2008, it opened under the name Camifolia. An original name inspired by the term “camomile”, first medicinal plant introduced in the area, “Camiliacum”, Gallo-roman origin of the town of Chemillé and “Folia” meaning leaf in Latin.  This garden is filled with plants full of medicinal, cosmetic and aromatic properties and shows some kind of lunacy.

En janvier 2008, le Foirail de Chemillé (49) est passé de l’agriculture à la culture et s’est associé avec le jardin botanique Camifolia au sein d’un Etablissement Public de coopération culturelle (EPCC). Ces deux structures offrent à sa ville, sa région et au delà, un équipement original destiné à favoriser la rencontre entre culture et territoire. Ils regroupent, chacun à leur manière, des espaces qui mêlent sciences, techniques, histoire et arts.
